We are all a bit tired of this winter, but a definite up-side has been the Snowy Owl irruption that we’ve had in south central Wisconsin. Irruptions are fairly cyclical and precipitated by low populations of prey available in normal wintering areas.
Snowy_owl_yawnThis year the polar freakin’ vortex has enhanced that scenario and more than 250 of these fluffy white birds have traveled to areas usually frequented by only a few individuals. This is one of two owls that Ted found near Stevens Point, WI yesterday.
