Phra Pathom Chedi, or “the first Stupa” is located about 50km outside of Bangkok in Nakhon Pathom. It is the tallest Stupa in the world, dating back to the 4th century. Learn the colorful history of this Buddhist site here.
These charismatic statues are among several that encircle the Stupa at its base.

The chickens in Thailand, like many other animals, wander freely everywhere. These lucky fowl reside at Sanam Chan Palace in Nakhon Pathom, a European style complex about an hour outside of Bangkok. Photography is not allowed inside the buildings that are associated with the royal family, but I find the residents who live on the grounds more interesting.

This Wat is the largest Khmer Temple in Thailand and was built in the 11th-12th century. The Buddha in the previous post resides in the center of this building.
